BAMBUZA WINS COVETED PDX AIRPORT LOCATION

Family-Owned Restaurant Group Awarded Opportunity

in the Port’s Most Competitive RFP Ever

Portland, Oregon — Local restaurant Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen (bambuza.com) was recently selected as the winner of one of five new restaurant locations at Portland International Airport. The small, family-run business — owned and operated by husband and wife team Katherine Lam and Daniel Nguyen — was chosen over several major national brands and chains to secure their second PDX airport location selling fresh, authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

Pending a vote on July 10th by the Port of Portland’s Commissioners, the awards are the result of the Port’s most competitive RFP round ever, with over 40 proposals received for nine dining and retail locations. Bambuza’s newest location will open in Concourse E at PDX in June 2020.

“In 2015, we were the first independently owned and operated Vietnamese restaurant to open in any airport in the nation,” says Bambuza President, Katherine Lam. “Now with the opening of Bambuza in Terminal E in 2020, we’ll expand on this legacy with our third international airport location, this time back here at our home airport, PDX.”

The Portland Airport’s efforts to remove barriers to entry and reach out to small business has encouraged diversity in its contracting. “Our values align closely with the Port’s efforts to promote inclusion,” says Lam. “Bambuza intentionally reaches out to diverse and underserved communities, businesses, and individuals in its selection of contractors, designers and suppliers. We welcome the chance to increase our impact by offering even more quality local jobs in an equitable workplace.”

Bambuza started in 1984 as the Nguyen family’s humble 20-seat diner in Camas, WA. 35 years later, the family is still serving food with the same heart, soul, and tradition to customers throughout the region and to airline passengers from around the world. Bambuza operates 5 restaurants in the Pacific Northwest — in Lake Oswego, Portland’s Pearl and South Waterfront Districts, and at PDX and Sea-Tac Airports. (bambuza.com)
